This is how it all started…

Hello. I am Corey H.D. Beckles from the lovely Caribbean island of Barbados. The Overcoming Word started as “the overcoming life” blog more than seven years ago. Having been involved in the youth and discipleship ministry at my church for more that 15 years, I found that there are many individuals, even believers, who do not know the power that the words written in the Bible have to influence their lives for the better.

Many believers, who attend church faithfully, sometimes forget that they can apply the principles written in the Bible to their daily lives in the same way that they can apply the principles written in any other book. The Bible was not written so we could pass the time at church or have literature to read before we go to bed at night. The Bible was written so that we could understand and also experience the same level of relationship that the men and women of the Bible had with God and with Jesus Christ.

In fact, the Apostle John said: “We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ”-1 John 1:3 New International Version

The Bible proclaims what men and women saw and heard and the purpose of those proclamations is to enable believers to experience the same “fellowship” that those men and women had with God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

My prayer is that through this blog, you will share those same experiences.
