Do not put your faith on the shelf!
Many times we treat our faith in God as a commodity that we only use when necessary. Sometimes we treat our faith as ‘fine china’ that we only use for special occasions. Sometimes we put in on a shelf where we can see it. Other times we put our faith at the very back of the cupboard.
Then he asked them, “Where is your faith?”-Luke 8:25 (NLT)
The disciples were on a boat in the middle of the lake with Jesus. There was a storm. The wind was strong; too strong to sail in. The waves were rough. Too rough to sail in. The disciples were afraid, but Jesus was sleeping.

While His disciples were panicking, fearing death and giving up all hope, Jesus was at rest. The disciples did not take their faith with them but Jesus did. Jesus always had faith in God, His heavenly Father. He did not go anywhere without his faith. He did not leave it on the shore or in the mountains. His assurance in God (faith) was always with him.
Therefore, he was not troubled by storms or by unexpected occurrences. He was confident that God had already given Him the authority to handle any storm.
The disciples did not have that confidence. Even if they did not have confidence in the authority that God had given them, they should have had confidence in the One that God had given them: Jesus
